Proper Travel Planning

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

When you are planning a trip, there are many things you need to do to ensure your trip is successful.  There is nothing like a last minute cancellation due to a problem with the travel plans.  Always plan your trip in advance, start saving early but don’t buy everything early, and find ways to save money.

Planning a trip in advance not only allows you to save money on things but it also allows you to have a better trip.  No one enjoys last minute vacations with a family.  A spontaneous vacation is a blast when it is you and your spouse.  However, when you are taking the kids, plan the trip.  Planning in advance is not only important to get a better deal on the flights but you must get the time off of work.  You must plan in advance to ensure that you and your wife can get the same days off of work. You also must plan in advance to ensure the kids can take the time off of school.  If you don’t plan on taking the kids, then you will need to be sure the babysitter is available for a few days to come and stay at your house to watch the kids and get them off to school each day.  You will also need to ensure there are cardboard edge protectors and an edge protector on the corners so there are no calls from the emergency room stopping your trip.

Saving early is important because you want to have as much money as possible for fun while you are away.  When you travel to any place that you will most likely never go again, you need to have money for plenty of souvenirs and doing as much as possible.  There is nothing like seeing a ton of activities you would like to do but not having enough money to do them on a vacation.  You want to pick and choose each adventure and let time be the problematic factor, not money.  Also, make sure you have plenty of money to bring back the things you want on the plan that seem too big requiring custom packaging solutions too.

There are many ways to save money on a family vacation.  Many people rush out and buy their hotel and all of their activities early because they think they will save money.  This is not always the case.  It is actually better to buy your airfare and worry about the rest when you arrive at your destination.  Take a cab and see where you can stay or drive around in your rental car.  Chances are good the entire town will not be sold out and you can find a low budget place that wasn’t on the web when you arrive.  People save hundreds of dollars a night when they don’t book online but get their hotel when they arrive.  If you are a total planner and have to be in control of the vacation, then being spontaneous might be very difficult for you.  Take a chance and buy your tickets and go.

Tips to Save Money on a Vacation

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

There are many ways that you can save money when you take a vacation. These include being flexible with your flight plans, renting a car, and even renting a house. These methods will help you with your efforts the next time you plan a vacation.

Saving money on a vacation is extremely difficult for many people. However, the more money you save when you travel the more you will have to shop when you get to your destination. You may want to buy vintage dresses in some of the vintage clothing store when you arrive. There may even be a men’s vintage clothing store that you want to buy something in. When you save money on the trip you have more to play with when you arrive.

Flexibility is important today when booking a flight anywhere in the world. If you can be flexible on the time of day you are willing to travel you will save money. Most people like to travel from 9 a.m. until about 9 p.m. The flights before 9 a.m. and after 9 p.m. are usually cheaper and can save you money. The best days to fly on that are the cheapest include Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. When you run a search for flights always say that you are flexible in the days and times so you can see the cheapest options. This will help you book the lowest fares possible the next time you travel.

Another way to save money when you travel is by renting a car at your destination. Be sure you rent the vehicle in advance. The last thing you want to do is try to rent a car when you arrive and find that there is an event in town and all of the rental agencies are out of cars. This would leave you stranded and without transportation. Many people don’t rent cars when they travel but instead they take taxis and tour buses. This is expensive because you have to pay for each person every time you want to go somewhere. A car rental can be as cheap as $15 a day and all you have to worry about is fuel costs.

Renting a house is the best option because you can save hundreds of dollars if you are traveling with a big family. Many people pay for multiple hotel rooms that are spread across a hotel. They don’t know where their teens are half the vacation and it ruins the concept of the family vacation. A rental house is more intimate, better time spent with the family, and you will all be together. Plus, you can save money because it is cheaper than getting multiple rooms, you can cook in the house instead of eat out, and more.

Taking a vacation is important to many people but often unaffordable because they just don’t know how to plan a trip the most economical way they can. Try to be flexible with the travel, rent a car and a home and you will find that not only can you afford to take the trip, but you will have additional money left to shop too.

Avoid the Stress of the Holidays by Taking a Vacation

Friday, January 9th, 2009

The holidays are extremely stressful on many people.  In most cases, it is cheaper to take a trip and it can relieve quite a bit of stress.  Many of the reasons that you might consider a vacation during the holidays include saving money, time, and having peace of mind.

Everyone gets stressed during the holidays.  Most people are very tight on their budgets and have a hard time meeting the high demands of Christmas during this time.  If you have a lot of people to buy gifts for then it can be even tougher on your finances. Most people find that the gifts they purchase for other people are usually non-existent by next year.  This can be frustrating when you feel you have to buy everyone something because it is the holidays.  Did you ever consider just buying the family a few memories they will never forget?

Taking a vacation is the best option for the holidays.  You will actually have much more time to yourself.  You won’t have to worry about the hustle and bustle of the holiday shoppers.  You also won’t even have to worry about putting up the artificial Christmas trees this year.  When you take a vacation you can enjoy the Christmas trees somewhere else.  The hotels always have plenty of artificial Christmas trees for you to enjoy so you won’t have to worry about the time it takes to put up decorations or take them down after the holiday.

Christmas is very expensive for many people, especially if you have a large family.  As the kids get older they always tend to ask for more expensive gifts.  It is so much cheaper to take a holiday vacation than it is to buy gifts for everyone in the family.  Flights are usually more expensive during the holidays but if you plan early you can get the cheapest flights possible.

Avoiding the stress is the biggest reason anyone should consider taking a vacation during December and January.  You may be stressed but usually everyone else around you is stressed also.  Taking a vacation will get you away from it all and allow you to have a wonderful time.  You can spend the days through the holiday on a beach or even up in the mountains at peace without the chaos.  It is how every holiday should be.

Celebrating the holidays is difficult for many people these days.  Most people cannot wait for the holidays to be over because they seem so overrated.  If you plan early, you can save hundreds of dollars and buy the entire family a vacation getaway rather than buy a bunch of gifts.  This will allow your family to have an amazing vacation filled with fun and memories.  This way you won’t have to worry about the stress associated with the holidays.  You will have more money in your pockets and you will have more time to relax and enjoy life.  Don’t let your holidays be ruined anymore.  Take a relaxing vacation.
